Newshub
Newshub is the premiere news brand for Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ. We deliver world-class local and international news aimed primarily at a New Zealand audience across linear broadcast and digital platforms
We're looking for an innovative and creative leader to oversee the production of Newshub Late. You will deliver editorial leadership of the programme with an unwavering focus on making it appointment viewing and building audience share.
The Daily
- Lead the production of Newshub Late working with presenters, reporters and the production team to create compelling content that delivers on clear strategic goals
- Intimately understand the audience profile and think creatively about the delivery of the bulletin, continually striving for innovation and fresh ideas using all available production elements
- Set the daily editorial direction of the programme, build the rundown and production elements and ensure the error-free delivery of the programme
- Engage with wider newsroom to ensure amplification of exclusive and unique content across all our news platforms
- Ensure all stories are editorially and legally sound, and BSA-compliant
- Lead the production of breaking news specials that may be required during your shift
The Essentials
- Tertiary level qualification or equivalent industry experience of 5+ years in news production
- Strong communication & organisational skills
- The ability to perform under the pressure of tight deadlines and in a breaking news environment
- Excellent editorial nous and a broad knowledge of New Zealand news and current affairs
- A firm understanding of laws governing defamation, libel and other applicable standards or guidelines
- An enthusiastic and positive team player who loves news who is willing to take direction and also able to support and mentor less experienced colleagues
- Understanding of and engagement with digital platforms including social networks
- Strongly committed to creating an environment where all employees are included, are treated with dignity and respect and are in a position to contribute to our future success
- Legal right to permanent, full time work in New Zealand
