The Operations Services department is looking for an Interior Design intern to join their Office Space Services & Property Management team!



About Office Space Services and Property Management (OSPM) Division:

OSPM manages the day-to-day operations of approximately 1.2 million square feet, across 10 facilities of the Agency's office space, occupied by approximately 2,500 Port Authority employees. These facilities include both our New York and New Jersey headquarters at 4 World Trade Center and 2 Montgomery Street, Jersey City, NJ. We provided the management and coordination of office space interior design including furniture and finishes, ergonomic enhancements, renovations, construction, relocations, furniture keys, as well as Port Authority standards for all Port Authority facilities and leased properties.

Responsibilities:

  • Field survey Office Space Facilities across New York and New Jersey properties to produce As-Built Drawings and furniture blocks within AutoCAD
  • Assist in creating standards manuals for surveyed facilities and presenting new sustainable alternatives
  • Manuals to include: Furniture, Finishes, and Equipment (FF&E).
  • Work with Project and Property Managers to identify critical property assets
  • Support Office Space Property Utilization in collecting data and floor plans for new facility management software buildout
  • Assist in daily Tenant Alteration Application process (Permitting)
  • Categorizing as-built drawings
  • Recording paperwork for archive submissions
  • Close out assistance on large scale property project

Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the Fall 2024 semester (August 2024 or beyond)
  • Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region
  • Interest in public service and/or transportation
  • Willingness to learn

Desired:

  • Interior Design, Architecture or a related major
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Power BI
  • Knowledge of site survey techniques
  • Interest in Property Management functions and Interior Design Finishes (Furniture and Finish Schedules a plus)

Internship Details:

  • The start date will be Thursday, May 30 with an orientation that will take place at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
  • The internship will last 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 23
  • This is a full-time internship (generally 5 days per week at 7.25 hours of work per day plus a 45-minute break)
  • The format is expected to be hybrid, partially virtual and partially in-person at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
  • The hourly salary range is $17.20 to $28.85 (the hourly salary is determined by internship type and school year)
