Vaccination for COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccine requirements are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical, religious, or fully remote exemption.  Requests for exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved exemption is required to start work. 

Job Description

Are you interested in joining our fight against cancer? Join our team! We are seeking an experienced Health Terminologist/Ontologist to join the Metadata Management Team within the Division of Data and Analytics at MSK.

You Are:

  • Passionate about supporting clinicians and researchers in their efforts to provide the best care for cancer patients and conduct research to conquer cancer
  • A strong believer in reproducible interoperable data that enables the generation of evidence and supports decision-making
  • Eager to be a part of the team of close collaborators who are passionate about their work and challenge the status quo

You Will:

  • Support day-to-day development and maintenance of clinical terminologies enabling MSK data standardization and interoperability
  • Work directly with domain specialists, clinicians, and researchers on standardization of MSK data
  • Develop knowledge and data models, as well as contribute to tools and pipelines that support MSK terminology and knowledge management services
  • Develop comprehensive documentation and content versioning

You Have:

  • Clinical and/or Health Informatics background, related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Understand and worked with existing healthcare standard ontologies and terminologies such as SNOMED, LOINC, RxNorm.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with oncology data, terminology development and authoring, and experience with a terminology management system.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and integrating clinical data into a standard platform.
