About the role
Atlassian is seeking a Revenue Assurance Analyst to join our Global Revenue Accounting Team. You will provide technical accounting expertise on ASC 606 and engage with the business to provide revenue recognition guidance on a variety of areas including reviewing and standardizing contract templates, educating stakeholders on the accounting impacts of non-standard contract clauses, refund policies, termination rights, etc. You will also be responsible for consulting, researching, and documenting our revenue accounting positions on non-standard contracts and related clauses as well as communicating the impact to varying levels in the organization and external auditors. You will report to our Enterprise Channel Revenue Manager who is invested in the continued development of the team and your career.
What you'll do
- Draft and review contract clauses for revenue recognition compliance
- Prepare contract summaries to highlight revenue recognition issues and non-standard terms
- Partner with Legal, Sales, and Sales Operations teams on deal and price structure to ensure that revenue is recognized, following US GAAP and Atlassian's revenue recognition and operations policies
- Provide revenue recognition guidance and informal training to the Legal, Sales, Sales operations teams as required
- Work closely with Legal to standardize revenue-generating contracts that meet our goals for revenue recognition and operations
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements for the contract approval process
- Prepare data and other support information as needed for audits and reviews conducted by external auditors
- Review contracts and order forms based on predetermined checklist prior to approving the Sales Order records in the ERP System. Actively call out and resolved any errors identified during the review
Your background
- 3+ years of Revenue and/or General accounting operations experience
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and primarily revenue recognition standards (ASC 606)
- Excellent research abilities, writing skills, and experience in challenging revenue recognition topics
- Demonstrated experience thinking strategically about issues, leading to recommendations and action plans
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- BA/BS degree in Accounting. CPA or equivalent is preferred, but not required
