Job Summary

Principle Accountabilities:

Performs visual inspection of electronic card and sub-assemblies, and systems or units to ensure that all product meets the established specifications for reliability and workmanship.
Utilizes gages, templates, microscopes and other manufacturing aids to ensure that all product meets the established specifications for reliability and workmanship.
Ensures that all required process operations have been performed on the product that is being inspected.
Enters all quality data into the appropriate electronic or manual systems.
Notifies the appropriate personnel if unusual product defects are identified or if process yields fall below acceptable levels.
Provides timely feedback to manufacturing if non-conforming product is identified.
Accurately completes all administrative activities associated with quality inspection.
Performs process audits and assists manufacturing with the interpretation of the quality and workmanship standards.
Assists with the disposition of all non-conforming materials/product.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Demonstrates functional skills.
Demonstrates basic functional process knowledge and participates in process.
Has awareness of Flex techniques.
Typically requires an understanding of inspection techniques.
Use of the following tools may be required: Electronic Assembly: color code, component, schematics, touch-up, commercial soldering, mechanical assembly, surface mount assembly, point to point wiring; Inspection: bare board, loaded, components, cable/harness, microscope, measuring tools; Mechanical & Electrical Tools: measuring tools; Office Skills: data entry, spreadsheet, manufacturing systems software.
Able to read and comprehend moderately complex instructions.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees, leads and supervisors of the organization.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
Ability to perform these operations using weight measurement and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Low impact, limited to the specific work area

Decision Making / Discretion:
Limited expectations to make decisions outside immediate work assignments. Decisions only affect individual.

Supervision / Leadership:
Receives detailed instructions on assignments. Typically requires close supervision.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work that requires repetitive motion. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Only current contractors working at Flex Austin will be considered. In addition, all contractors considered for this position must have at least 1 year experience performing Quality Control Inspection or must have been trained to perform the task within the last 12 months.
