The team and the role

The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) organization supports our business, market and enabling area leaders by providing world class financial support. FP&A is made up of advisors who are influential in decision-making and partner with finance leaders to drive meaningful strategic and financial outcomes.

Within FP&A, the Strategic Analytics (SA) team integrates big data analytics, strategic thinking, and deep firm knowledge to provide leadership with insights to drive informed decision-making and enable continued growth. The team partners with business and operational leaders to provide an impact by leveraging data and analytical tools, strategic thinking, and hypothesis-based analysis. Specific responsibilities and qualifications for the Data Science Manager role are outlined below.

Work you'll do

Core responsibilities

  • Drive large scale, data science projects that leverage data transformation and machine learning models
  • Develop first-class tools and insights for leadership by balancing the complexity of data, coding/visualization platforms, and client demands
  • Automate and streamline projects to increase efficiencies and scalability
  • Develop alternative procedures and processing to optimize data interactions and drive new insights
  • Contribute to storyboarding activities, developing recommendations for an executive-level audience and producing leadership-quality deliverables
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including Deloitte's businesses and Enabling Areas, to support key business functions
  • Manage and review ad-hoc automation or information product support

Other responsibilities

  • Develop timelines, milestones, and metrics to effectively plan and execute projects; collaborate cross-functionally with firm leadership, Business leadership, FP&A teams (e.g., Finance Business Partners), and additional teams (e.g., Talent, Strategy) and inform stakeholders of project progress
  • Advise on key messaging and presentation content to communicate the intended story and achieve business outcomes; Collaborate closely with stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Provide actionable recommendations to senior leadership and support the decision-making process
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to staff to support professional development and advancement towards career goals

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in data science or related subject
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated accomplishments in the following areas:
  • Project management
  • Machine learning algorithms including time series models
  • Data analysis, management, and visualization
  • Artificial intelligence software
  • Proficiency in Tableau
  • Storyboarding
  • Business and process improvement
  • Develop action plans
  • Financial reporting and analysis
  • Work with senior leadership
  • Advanced in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Advanced understanding of data science and visualization tools (Python, R, SQL)

Preferred:

  • Experience in Gen AI models
  • Advanced education degree
  • Experience in a professional services firm
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

This compensation range is specific to California, Colorado, Jersey City, Nevada, New York state, and Washington state and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $113,100 to $232,300.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
