Position Summary:

Assist with the management of the department, maximize all financial opportunities, and assume the management responsibilities in the absence of the manager and assistant manager. Fred Meyer also requires that all associates perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws.



Essential Job Functions:

  • Model "Customer 1st" behavior; deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service
  • Maintain compliance with corporate policies/divisional standards including merchandising, food safety, signing, conditioning, stockroom, fixtures usage and maintenance, labor agreements, quality ordering functions, shrink control, shipping/receiving, salvage, freight receiving/stocking procedures
  • Verify ads are in stock; adhere to quality ordering functions
  • Perform early removal breakdown
  • Promote and follow Company initiatives
  • Sell products to customers and perform cashier functions, when necessary
  • Follow up on daily tours
  • Monitor and adjust the 15-minute chart
  • Maintain an awareness of daily sales; access on-line sales information
  • Manage all maintenance/repair needs
  • Respond to verbal customer comments/complaints/requests
  • Complete customer incident and associate incident/accident report forms
  • Process salvage; complete returns
  • Write Intersection Transfers
  • Cashiering; Open/close register, scan and bag merchandise, complete/tender transactions, make money drops, maintain balanced cash box; Complete file maintenance log for price discrepancies; Maintain knowledge of produce codes; Call for item verification and return assistance
  • All store management work with associates to manage all common associate areas (i.e. break rooms and training areas) to make sure they are inviting in appearance and reflect "Our People Are Great"

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus Food Fourth-in-Charge or equivalent experience, a minimum of six months Fred Meyer experience and one-two years related retail experience; or combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Minimum 18 years of age/19 in Idaho/21 in Alaska
  • Ability to pass drug test
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work weekends on a regular basis
  • Ability to travel independently
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Accuracy/attention to detail
  • Ability to organize/prioritize tasks/projects
  • Familiarity with Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO)
  • Ability to work within set time frames/fixed deadlines
  • Ability to continue education
  • Kroger Food Safety Level 1 Certification
  • Valid driver's license
  • Fred Meyer lift truck certification/license
  • CPR/first aid certification
  • Any licenses or certificates required by federal and/or state

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Knowledge of Fred Meyer policies, procedures, and organizational structure
  • BA/BS degree in business or related field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Infopac, and current Company email
  • Experience directing/participating on project teams
  • Working knowledge of alarms, sprinklers, and printers
  • Ability to speak Spanish
