Position Summary:

Assist in management of the department, maximize all financial opportunities and assume management responsibilities in the absence of the manager. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure that the Food department meets/exceeds customer expectations for ease of shopping, variety, freshness and cleanliness
  • Maintain compliance with corporate policies/divisional standards, including merchandising, food safety, signing, recovery, stockroom, planograms, fixtures usage and maintenance, labor agreements, quality ordering functions, shrink control, shipping/receiving procedures, freight receiving and freight stocking standards and all safety guidelines/standards
  • Manage food safety audits and Ecolab audit follow up reviews
  • Implement/audit ads
  • Coordinate implementation of weekly merchandise specialists notes, off-shelf merchandising notes and period planners
  • Verify accuracy on price changes
  • Authorize manager discretion markdowns
  • Audit file maintenance exceptions, scan audits, vendor logs and salvage procedures
  • Communicate daily sales and goals to staff
  • Monitor and adjust/correct overstock/understock conditions
  • Supervise, oversee and coach associates in the performance of their duties
  • Complete daily tours
  • Respond to customers' verbal comments/complaints/requests
  • Manage maintenance/repair needs
  • Complete customer incident and associate incident/accident report forms
  • Work with associates to manage all common associate areas (i.e., break rooms and training areas) to make sure they are inviting in appearance and reflect "Our People Are Great" values
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position Qualifications/Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient knowledge of computers
  • Proven supervisory experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Accuracy/attention to detail
  • Ability to organize/prioritize tasks/projects
  • Fred Meyer lift truck certification/license

Desired Previous Job Experience/Education:

  • Knowledge of Fred Meyer policies, procedures, and organizational structure
  • BA/BS degree in business or related field

The final rate of pay is determined at store level based on prior equivalent work experience.
